The Serbian Geological Society (Srpsko geološko društvo - SGD) is a voluntary scientific organization of the Serbian geologists.
Serbian Geological Society was founded in 1891 with an objective: "to perform geological investigations of Serbian and other lands of the Balkan Peninsula, as well to inform its members and other interested parties about the achievement in the field of geology and affiliated sciences."

We are very pleased to inform you that registration for the 17th Congress of Geologists of Serbia in Vrnjacka Banja (May 17-20, 2018 started.

EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT: XVII Serbian Geological Congress
Dear members and colleagues,
We would like to inform you that next year will be the “congress year” for our Society, and 17th Serbian Geological Congress (with international participation) will be held in the Vrnjačka Banja (the most celebrated and most popular spa town of Serbia) from 17-20 May 2018. within the Hotel “Breza”.
Letter of Thanks issued to the SGS in the name of 25 years of Geological Survey of the Republic of Srpska
At the ceremony of the 25th anniversary of the Geological Survey of the Republic of Srpska, which was held on the 16. June 2017. in the Banja Luka, Serbian Geological Society has received letter of thanks for the great contribution and the affirmation of the Geological Survey and geological research on the territory of the Republic of Srpska.
Bulgarian Geological Society excursion across Eastern Serbia
During the last weekend (12-14.05.2017.) excursion across Eastern Serbia was organized by the Bulgarian Geological Society within international cooperation between Serbian and Bulgarian geological societies. Guests from Bulgaria had an opportunity to see geological and cultural-historic sights of Rajac, Donji Milanovac, Boljetin, Golubac, Majdanpek and Đerdap Gorge.

The Solemn Ceremony and Scientific Conference Commemorating 125 years of the founding of SGS
A celebratory event was held in the conference hall of the University of Belgrade on 21 October 2016 on the occasion of 125 years of the founding of our Society. The event was attended by numerous guests: representatives of the Serbian scientific community, the Ministry of Mining and Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, geologists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungaria, as well as our members and friends.

The Unveiling of the SGS Memorial Plaque at the Rectorate of the University of Belgrade
On 21 October 2016, as part of the celebration of 125 years of the foundation of our Society, a solemn gathering was organised at the Rectorate of the University of Belgrade and a memorial plaque was unveiled in the courtyard of Captain Miša's Building. The idea of putting up a memorial plaque at the site where the Geological Survey of the Higher School, and later of the University, operated since its founding in 1880 until it moved to a new building in 1952, and where the Serbian Geological Society was founded in 1891, has long been present among our members but unfortunately could not be realised until the present.
The Cooperation Agreement Signed with the Bulgarian Geological Society
The Cooperation Agreement ("Memorandum of Understanding") between the Geological Societies of Bulgaria and Serbia was signed on 22 October 2016 in the memorial room of Jovan Žujović at the Faculty of Mining and Geology in Kamenička Street 6. On the Bulgarian side the Agreement was signed by the President of the Bulgarian Geological Society Dr Evgenia Tarasova. The content of the Memorandum has been agreed upon during the year 2016 and does not differ significantly from similar agreements that have already been signed with the Hungarian and Romanian geological societies.

Taking advantage of the presence of the President of the Romanian Geological Society Dr. Antoneta Seghedi at the celebration marking 125 years of the founding of our Society, the Cooperation Agreement ("Memorandum of Understanding") between the Geological Societies of Romania and Serbia was signed on 22 October 2016 in the memorial room of Jovan Žujović at the Faculty of Mining and Geology in Kamenička Street 6.
